Instant Pot L. Reuteri Drink or Yogurt
L. reuteri is truly super. This is how I make it in the Instant Pot, either as a probiotic drink or, with one swap, as a thick yogurt.
For yogurt, use the same instructions but swap in ultra-pasteurized half and half. Save a little from each batch as the starter for your next one.

Instant Pot L. Reuteri Drink or Yogurt
Ingredients
- 3 cups ultra-filtered milk (like Fairlife whole milk)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp inulin powder
- 1 packet L. reuteri starter
Equipment
- Instant Pot with a yogurt setting
- 2–3 pint glass jars
Optional flavoring (per 3/4 pint)
- 1 tsp extract of choice
- 1–2 tbsp allulose
Instructions
- Sanitize your jars and utensils.
- In a mixing bowl, stir the inulin into 1 cup of the milk until dissolved. Add the L. reuteri starter, then the remaining milk and cream.
- Pour evenly into the jars, leaving a little space at the top. Loosely cover each jar.
- Place the trivet in the bottom of the Instant Pot insert and add 1–1.5 cups of water. Set the jars on the trivet.
- Close and seal the lid to keep an even temperature. Press Yogurt only once and set the time for 36 hours.
- After 36 hours, let the jars cool slightly at room temperature, then refrigerate at least 4–6 hours. Stir before serving if slightly separated.
- Store in the fridge up to 2 weeks. Save 1–2 tbsp (up to 1/4 cup) as the starter for your next batch, up to 3 times for best results.
- For yogurt, follow the same steps using ultra-pasteurized half and half. For flavor, stir in the extract and allulose.
